If you are choosing between the SadePomppa and Non-stop Dogwear Fjord, I think the decision comes down to value versus technical refinement.
I own and use both. Shelby wears our Sade; Lucy wears our Fjord. Both have been excellent in prolonged rain. I prefer the Sade overall because I do not feel I am giving up enough performance to justify the extra spend, but the Fjord absolutely does some things better.

The Short Answer
If I were spending my own money and wanted a great pure rain shell, I would choose the SadePomppa.
If I wanted better harness access, more technical detailing and a coat I was deliberately buying for hard outdoor use, I would choose the Fjord.
Waterproofing
Both have been excellent in prolonged rain.
This is important because I do not think the Sade loses this comparison simply because the Fjord is the more technical-looking coat. In actual use, both have kept my dogs dry and both are coats I trust in real weather rather than just showers.
Non-stop currently lists the Fjord with a 15,000 mm water column and breathable membrane. That is a manufacturer specification, not my own lab result. What I can say firsthand is that the Fjord has performed extremely well in prolonged rain.
The Sade has also been excellent for Shelby, which is exactly why the price difference becomes so important to me.
Harness Compatibility
The Fjord wins here for my setup.
I use harnesses underneath both coats, but I prefer the leash access on our Fjord. It is simply easier and cleaner with the way I set Lucy up.
The Sade works; it just is not quite as good for me in this specific area.
Movement
Both are excellent.
Shelby has excellent freedom of movement in Sade. Lucy has excellent freedom of movement in Fjord, including woodland use. Neither makes me feel as though I am trading normal movement for waterproofing.
Durability
I have no durability complaint with either coat.
Our Sade has not snagged. Our Fjord has handled hard use, woods and normal coonhound life extremely well.
If I had to pick which one feels more purpose-built for rougher technical use, it is the Fjord. But importantly, the Sade has not given me a practical reason to distrust it.
Wind and Stability
Both stay put well.
The Fjord uses leg straps and multiple adjustments, and Non-stop specifically designs it for stability in wind. Our Sade has also stayed in place nicely in windy conditions without becoming annoying to use.
Again, the Fjord is more technical in execution; the Sade is simpler but still works.
Visibility
This is one of the things I genuinely love about the Fjord.
The colors and reflective detailing make sense for the sort of gray, miserable weather in which a raincoat gets used. It is not a deciding factor by itself, but it is a real practical advantage.
Value
This is where Sade wins for me.
I love the Fjord. I think it is an excellent raincoat. But when I compare how dry my dogs stay, how freely they move and how well the coats have survived our use, I do not feel the Sade gives up enough to make the premium automatically worthwhile.
That is why I call the Sade my best-value rain shell.
Who Should Buy the SadePomppa?
- You want a genuinely good waterproof shell without paying premium technical-coat money.
- You care more about simple function than technical detailing.
- You do not need the best possible harness-access setup.
- You want excellent price-to-quality.
Who Should Buy the Fjord?
- You use your dog in woods, on hikes or in rougher conditions.
- Harness access matters a lot.
- You value reflectiveness and technical adjustability.
- You are comfortable paying more for those refinements.
My Verdict
I prefer Sade overall; I prefer Fjord for technical use.
If I were recommending one to the average owner who wants to keep a dog dry, I would start with Sade. If the owner told me they were hard on gear, used a harness underneath every time and wanted the more technical setup, then Fjord becomes the stronger choice.
