Rules For Group Training Walks

July 14, 2022

I’m so delighted to see you’re interested in training walks with me!

But, before we really get into this, there are a few rules and guidelines that are in place for everyone’s safety and security whilst we do this.

We all love our dogs, and it’s really important to me that we all stay as safe as possible. These rules are there to help with that. For this reason, these rules are really are not negotiable.

Rules For Training Walks

  1. Please ensure that you have completed the Get To Know You form!
  2. One dog per handler per fee.
  3. Do not give treats to other dogs unless invited or permitted by the dogs guardian/owner.
  4. Do not introduce your dogs when you arrive. This is not a free-for-all, this is a structured session.
  5. For your own safety, do not go pet, play or talk to other dogs in the session, we have human reactive dogs in our groups. This goes for you and any dependants you may bring.
  6. Children must be kept strictly under control, you may be asked to leave the session if your children are becoming a problem. We are here for the dogs after all.
  7. We run positive reinforcement based training. This means we do not need aversives (prong collars, ecollars, slip leads, choke chains, head collars etc) in these sessions, please contact me if you’re currently using one of these and want recommendations on changing them to another piece of equipment. If you arrive wearing any of these without my explicit consent, you will be asked to remove them or given the choice to leave.
  8. Girls in heat/season/estrous – you are welcome to come but you must take appropriate care and caution because while we can contain our dogs in the group, other dogs are in the park.

Additional Rules For Reactive Dogs On Training Walks

Reactive dogs are welcome. But this comes with caveats. You absolutely must contact me before coming to the sessions so I can plan for you and ensure that we don’t put you or anyone around you into too deep a situation.

  1. If your dog is reactive then I strongly suggest muzzle training them for everyone’s safety. Please contact me to ensure I’m aware (woof@rebarkable.com)
  2. If your dog is too reactive to start on these sessions, you will be invited to take private lessons with me, and the fee of your walking session will go towards the first private session.

If you have any questions ensure you email me! I’m most responsive by email or on Instagram (give a follow while you’re there!)

And if you want to join us? Sign up over on the Carroll County Parks & Rec site!
